Weld Australia Welding Workshop Supervisor

This course for the certification of welding supervisor is for when the requirements of industry demand a prescribed degree of quality in welding to meet the needs of safety and performance but not certification to AS 1796 Certificate 10 or AS 2214 Welding Supervisor. This course provides the theoretical knowledge required of a welding supervisor. This course is intended to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to contribute to performing the role of welding supervisor that ensures that all welding is carried out in accordance with the plans, the specifications, any other documents and the requirements of AS/NZS 1554.1. Completion of this course forms part of the requirement leading to the certification as a Welding Supervisor (conditions apply, contact us for details).

This course is delivered by two sections:

Section 1 (Online) – Eight Modules that need to be completed via the Weld Australia Portal (64 hours – needs to be completed before starting Section 2), comprising of the following topics:

  • Welding Fundamentals – Basic;
  • Welding Safety;
  • WPS/PQR Explained;
  • Fabrication Maths – Advanced;
  • Non-Destructive Testing;
  • Metallurgy – Advanced;
  • Welding Symbols;
  • Welding Economics.

  • Section 2 (Distance Learning) – Study, Assignments and examinations (60 hours), comprising of the following topics:

  • Duties of the Welding Supervisor;
  • Welding and Joining Processes;
  • Documentation and Weld Procedures;
  • Inspection and Test Plans;
  • Weld Defects;
  • Introduction to Inspection Methods;
  • Quality Assurance;
  • Welded Design;
  • Mechanical Tests on Welded Joints;
  • Residual Stresses and Distortion;
  • Plant Facilities, Welding Jigs and Fixtures;
  • Heat Treatments of Base Materials and Welded Joints;
  • Metallographic Examinations;
  • Measurement, Control and Recording in Welding;
  • Workplace Health and Safety;
  • Australian Standards.

  • You must be connected to the internet to access online courses. It supports the most recent versions of Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer. Courses can be viewed on desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. However, that a high speed internet connection (i.e. NBN) and large screen offer a better user experience.

    Course Costs (including GST): $3,296.01 (Members), $3,605.00 AUD (Non-Members), GST included. Examinations included in price.
